Maricopa Unified School begins its seventh Academic League Tuesday.
Each elementary school creates two teams of 10 to 12 students representing fourth and fifth grade; school teams then compete.
Each competition consists of two rounds in which teams answer multiple choice and open-ended questions related to grammar, spelling, social studies, science and math.
MUSD will host four competitions at various sites.
Competition No. 1: Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 3:30 p.m.
Pima Butte will host Santa Rosa
Maricopa Elementary will host Butterfield
Saddleback will host Santa Cruz
Competition No. 2: Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 3:30 p.m.
Santa Rosa will host Saddleback
Butterfield will host Pima Butte
Santa Cruz will host Maricopa Elementary
Competition No. 3: Tuesday, March 26 at 3:30 p.m.
Pima Butte will host Santa Cruz
Saddleback will host Butterfield
Maricopa Elementary will host Santa Rosa
Academic finals: Tuesday, May 7 at 3:30 p.m.
