A woman found asleep at the wheel of her car Sunday was arrested on multiple charges, including aggravated DUI, child endangerment and weapons violations, according to police.

At 5:37 p.m. Sunday, Maricopa Police were dispatched to West Cielo Lane on a report of a woman asleep behind the wheel of her car with her children in the back seat. Upon arrival, an officer encountered Gabriella Ramirez outside her Chevrolet Malibu, which was still running. The responding officer reported Ramirez was slurring her words, had watery, bloodshot eyes and smelled strongly of intoxicating liquor.

Ramirez admitted she had been drinking and had consumed five drinks and that she had been driving the car with her children inside. The children still were inside the car when the officer arrived.

Ramirez consented to a field sobriety test, during which officers noted six cues of intoxication, and she was placed under arrest at 6:06 p.m. on charges of aggravated DUI for being in physical control of her vehicle while intoxicated with her children in the car; misconduct involving weapons for having a deadly weapon (a Glock 26 pistol) shoved in her pants while committing a felony offense (aggravated DUI); child endangerment; and open container violations, for having multiple open liquor containers in the vehicle’s passenger cabin.

Ramirez was booked into Pinal County Jail.
