Lions, tigers and bears, oh my.

Well not quite. The Maricopa Unified School District has announced the colors and mascots for the three new schools, all of which are opening this fall.

These new schools and their respective colors and mascots are as follows:

Butterfield Elementary students will be known as the bobcats and their colors are tan, forest green and gold.

Saddle Back Elementary students will be known as stallions, and their colors are royal blue, silver and white.

Desert Wind Middle School students will be known as tigers, and their colors are orange, black and white.

Students and parents voted on these names and colors.

Some suggested mascots that didn’t make the cut included monkeys, hawks, cowboys and broncos.
