NHRA Drag racing series zooms into Firebird

Firebird International Raceway, just north of the city of Maricopa, is the venue for the second stop on the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series this Friday.

The Full Throttle Tour, which travels across 23 destinations from Pomona to Norwalk, Calif., is a series of events aimed at determining the top drag racer in the country. The event at Firebird offers three full days of racing action.
 
The festivities start up Friday morning as the gates open at 7:30 a.m., with the qualifying session beginning at 1:30 p.m and running late into the night. Saturday offers a similar schedule and Sunday is the day of eliminations.
 
Tickets for the event vary in price from $20 to $85. A three-day pass is available for $99. Also, camping sites are available beginning at $125. Recreational vehicle passes are $650 or $1,050 for a trackside location.
