Fire crews respond to learning center, no fire found

Children and staff members at a kids’ learning center evacuated the building and called authorities Friday morning after administrators smelled smoke inside the business, according to the fire department.

No fire or smoke was found when fire crews arrived on scene just before 9 a.m. Children’s Learning Adventure is located at 20600 N. John Wayne Parkway, just north of Quik Trip.

“They did the right thing,” said Brad Pitassi, a spokesman for the Maricopa Fire Department.

The source of the smell was never located, but Pitassi said fire crews commend the school for having an emergency plan in place and executing it.
