No fishing at Pacana Park starting Tuesday

An exciting event for many, the annual Maricopa Fishing Derby will be held in just a little over a week on March 6.

In preparation for that event and to ensure that the experience is the best it can be for all of the participants, the city will be closing the lake at Pacana Park to fishing from Tuesday, March 2, through Friday, March 5.

“The lake will be stocked for the derby next week, and this will allow the fish a few days to get used to their new surroundings, as well as making sure there are plenty of them in there for the derby,” said Community Services Department Director John Nixon.

Signs will be posted to remind residents of this temporary fishing restriction.
