One lucky Maricopa resident was driving to a Boy Scouts of America function when his cell phone rang Friday.

On the other end of the phone was Orbitel Communications President Keith Kirkman, announcing that Richard Stinogel won a new television, digital-video recorder and free digital cable service for one year in Orbitel’s online payment contest.

“It looks like Christmas is off to a good start,” remarked one of Stinogel’s children when the Orbitel team showed up to install the new 42″ high-definition plasma television and DVR Saturday.

Stinogel was one of 1,491 subscribers who were automatically entered in the contest by paying their Orbitel Communications bill using the company’s new online bill-pay service.

Orbitel added the option for customers to pay their bill online in June.

“The number of customers who pay their bill using the online service grows substantially every month,” Kirkman said. “I think people really appreciate the convenience of this service.”

The Stinogel family have been Orbitel customers since June and use Orbitel’s expanded cable TV, high-speed Internet and digital phone services.

Kirkman said Orbitel looks for creative ways to educate the public about their services.

“The contest was a fun way to introduce the new online bill pay option,” said Kirkman.
