Opinion: Tragedy waiting to happen at Porter/Alan Stephens walk light

A reader says a traditional traffic light is needed at Porter Road and Alan Stephens Parkway before a school child is hit by a vehicle, whose driver ignored the flashing-red crosswalk lights -- which is a common problem. [Bryan Mordt]

I live on the corner of Carlisle and Jameson in Glennwilde, which is right at the Porter Road and Alan Stephens Parkway walk light.

This morning there was another near miss with children in the crosswalk.  It is a matter of time until we have a horrible incident at that light involving children. Someone needs to correct this horrible intersection immediately before something terrible happens.  There needs to be an actual traffic light at the intersection instead of those blinking lights.

No one pays attention to the lights as it is right now.
