Parents get the scoop on curriculum at Pima Butte

Schools in the Maricopa Unified School District held curriculum nights Tuesday, but Pima Butte Elementary School added a special treat – an ice cream social.

Parents and children packed the Pima Café to enjoy chocolate and/or vanilla ice cream with all their free favorite toppings. One scoop was $1, and three scoops of ice cream went for $2.

“I have no idea how many gallons of ice cream we had, but we ran out,” said Pima Butte PTO President Amy Jamieson. The proceeds of the ice cream sales will go to the PTO to provide materials and supplies for teachers and students at the school.

Before, during and after the ice cream social, children led parents to their classrooms to see what they are doing and learning each day. Teachers were on hand to answer questions and explain curriculum.
