The Maricopa Parks Recreation and Libraries Advisory Committee will host a Recreation Town Hall next month to solicit input from the community on future programs, services and facilities. The public event will be held at the Summit Cafeteria at Maricopa High School at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 18.

The Recreation Town Hall will include an overview of the current happenings of the City’s Parks, Recreation and Libraries (PRL) Department including the Pacana Park grand opening, youth sports and classes, special events and the like. More importantly, it will afford residents an opportunity to address what recreation programs and amenities they want to see in their community.

“Youth and adult sports, teen programs, classes and programs and special events will all be discussed,” explains Chris Ward, a member of the PRL Advisory Committee and Town Hall chairman. “We are also eager to hear what the community wants in terms of facilities such as dog parks, skate parks, teen centers and the like.”

According to Scott Bartle, chairman of the PRL Advisory Committee, this is a very special time and a unique opportunity for the city and its residents. “We have an opportunity to help shape our community and make an impact that will last for generations,” Bartle said. “The time is now, while we are still in the early stages of development, for residents to share their ideas and ‘be heard.'”

The Recreation Town Hall is open to the public and free of charge. For more information, contact PRL Director Marty McDonald at (520) 568-9098, Ext. 204 or [email protected].
