Pima Butte celebrates its Students of the Month

Respect. Responsibility. Citizenship. These are only a few of the characteristics teachers look for in their students as they grow and mature. And teachers constantly encourage their students to exhibit those traits and behavioral habits at home, as well as in school.

Pima Butte Elementary School has a tradition that allows students who demonstrate positive characteristics and behavior to be recognized and rewarded. Each month every teacher chooses two students as their model students for the previous 30 days. Parents and family members are invited to attend the award assemblies at the school.

Some of Pima Butte’s teachers talked about their Students of the Month:

Amanda Ball, Kindergarten
“Both Amy Beeman and Dylan Huttenlocher are hard workers. They follow the rules and treat others with respect and kindness. I know I can count on these two students to help me out in the classroom, too! Amy and Dylan are awesome kids of character!”

Jasmine Scott, Kindergarten
“I chose Andres Equihua because he is kind to his classmates and always willing to help without being asked. I chose Tania Do because she tries her hardest at everything she does and is very respectful.”

Tabri Hicks, 3rd grade
“I chose Kaitlyn Gutierrez and Kyle Gurley as my Students of the Month. They are both hardworking and very respectful. They help out around the classroom as well as help their peers when they need it. They always have something positive to say about everyone and everything!”

Jamie Hale, 3rd grade
Tyla Miller-Brown and Isaac Martinez both always respect me in the classroom, not only me, but their fellow classmates as well. They are awesome!”

Nicole LaRochelle, 3rd grade
“I chose Jordan Bell and Joann O’Hare because they are very responsible, hardworking students. They show respect to me and to the other students in the class. They always do their best and give 100%. They take pride in their work, and it shows.”

Betty Graham, 4th Grade
“I chose Elizabeth Dallas and Samantha Pearson for a number of reasons. Liz is a model student when it comes to respect. Not only is she respectful in the classroom, but she is respectful to her peers and all other adults. I am honored to have her in my classroom. Samantha is hardworking, pleasant and a great listener. She is a great friend to everyone.”

Alena Leos, 5th grade
Courtney Burback and Donovan Cruz. I chose Courtney and Donovan as our Students of the Month because they both not only show respect to me, to their fellow students, but also to themselves. Each student works very hard to accomplish outstanding grades and takes pride in each and everything they do.”
