Pima Butte fifth grader Nathan Frarck wins district spelling bee

Maricopa Elementary School was the site of the District Spelling Bee Saturday. Held in conjunction with the first Parent University, contestants represented grades K-8.

Each district contestant, representing Maricopa Elementary, Pima Butte Elementary, Santa Cruz Elementary, Santa Rosa Elementary and Maricopa Wells Middle School, was already a winner in his or her respective school competition.

The winner, Nathan Frarck, is a fifth grader at Pima Butte Elementary School this year. He will represent the Maricopa Unified School District in the County Spelling Bee Feb. 23.

The winning word was ‘century.’
