Pima Butte Elementary School had a “hands-on” experience Wednesday morning. In three separate assemblies, one for kindergarten, one for grades 1-3 and another for grades 4-6, students with exceptionally good citizenship and excellent character put their handprints on the Pima Butte Café’s walls.
Kindergarten students wait for their “hands-on” experience.
Students who are honest, fair and patient, and who are true role models for their peers receive Student of the Day awards. If a child accumulates five or more such awards, they get to put their handprint on the wall and receive a certificate for his or her outstanding character and leadership.
Happy kindergarteners receive their certificates from Principal Janelle Lowey.
“You are all to be congratulated,” noted Principal Janelle Lowey. “Some of you even had 10 Student of the Day awards.”
Principal Lowey congratulates students for their good characters.
For kindergarten student Jonah Kenney being honored involved quite a process.
First, you have to wait your turn.
Then you get your hand painted.
Principal Lowey helps you make your handprint; then she writes your name on it.
Wow, that’s a lot of blue paint!
At the end you have to wash up before receiving your certificate.
