Pima Butte’s Pima Cafe gets a new look

Students at Pima Butte Elementary School are in for a happy surprise when they return to their classrooms on Monday, October 24. The Pima Butte Café has a new look.

On Thursday parents and teachers volunteered their time and energy to paint the student dining area in the new school colors, navy and gold. Walls were painted navy from the floor to a height of about five feet with a gold strip painted above. Pima Butte’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) provided the paint for the project.

Handprints will be added to the gold strip in the near future. Principal Janelle Lowey explained, “I’ve been keeping a list. Any child who receives the Student of the Day award five times will get to put their handprint on the gold strip.”

“We wanted to make the dining area more inviting, to provide some color on the all white walls,” added Lowey. “Plus we wanted to evoke some school spirit.”

The project will be completed next week. Anyone who would like to help with the painting should contact Pima Butte Elementary at (520) 568-7152 or Lowey by email.

Pima Butte’s Book Fair will be held October 24-31. Volunteers are needed and should contact Kerry Fulton at (520) 568-5229 or by email.

The next PTO meeting will be held in the newly painted Pima Café on Tuesday, October 25, at 7 p.m. Parents and / or grandparents are urged to attend.
