Interim director of county’s Family Advocacy Center named

Gerald L. Smith Sr. was appointed interim director of the Pinal County Attorney’s Office Family Advocacy Center and he will continue to serve as the children’s justice coordinator.

“Smith’s work improved the process of investigations and prosecutions of crimes against children in Pinal County,” said Pinal County Attorney James P. Walsh. “I am happy he accepted this interim position until a new director is chosen.”

Smith brings more than 30 years experience in law enforcement to the position. He was hired as the Children’s Justice Coordinator in April 2008 and has worked successfully in creating protocols and procedures for law enforcement agencies, educators and medical professionals in dealing with child abuse and sexual crimes against children.
