A Maricopa man faces charges after an argument with his father.

Joshua Wollschleger, 26, was charged with misconduct involving weapons and disorderly conduct after the Dec. 11 incident at a home on West James Lane, according to police.

About 9:30 p.m. that night, Wollschleger’s father called 911 to report that his son was holding a gun to his own head, police said. Officers talked to Wollschleger’s parents at the scene and were told he had allegedly gone out the back door and jumped a fence while police were responding.

The father said he had earlier taken the gun – a loaded Bryco Model 38 semiautomatic pistol – from his son and secured it in a locked vehicle, said police, who seized the weapon. During the earlier argument, the parents told police that Wollschleger had the gun in his possession, and then allegedly held the gun to his own head after he was told police were on the way.

Police were unable to locate Wollschleger during the initial response. The father called police again about 45 minutes later to report his son had returned home, argued with him and then walked away. He was located by officers about quarter of a mile from the home, at Porter Road and Novak Lane, where he was arrested, according to a probable cause statement.

Advised of his Miranda warning, Wollschleger responded “yeah” when asked if he understood his rights, police said. During an interview, he allegedly said he did possess a handgun earlier in the night but denied being suicidal. He said he legally purchased the gun about four years ago.

Wollschleger told police he was convicted of a felony drug possession about two years earlier. He allegedly admitted to the argument with his father and jumping the fence to avoid police, the probable cause statement said.

Wollschleger was booked into Pinal County Jail, where he remains in custody, according to online inmate records.
