A Maricopa man is accused of striking his girlfriend several times, grabbing her throat and threatening to kill her on Friday night.

At 10:11 p.m. on Friday, Maricopa police responded to a home on West Palmen Drive in the Villages at Rancho El Dorado on a report of a disturbance.

A woman reported her boyfriend, Vernon K. Davis, 31, had been drinking alcohol and became angry. The woman told officers Davis struck her in the face with an open hand, yelled at her and struck her again, police said.

According to a probable-cause statement, the woman went to the home’s backyard and sat in a chair. Davis followed, overturned her chair and struck her in the face again. The woman stood up and Davis allegedly grabbed her by the throat and pushed her against the side of the home.

The woman walked around to the front of the home and sat in a car, police reported. Davis continued to go in and out of the house.

Davis reportedly struck the woman again and said, “I’m gonna send you up.”  The woman told officers this statement was Davis saying he was going to kill her.

Davis was arrested and booked into Pinal County jail on suspicion of disorderly conduct (domestic violence), assault (domestic violence) and threats or intimidating (domestic violence).
