Car passenger pulls gun on woman in Senita

A 19-year-old woman who went for a walk in the Senita neighborhood Tuesday evening told police she was confronted by a vehicle passenger with a silver handgun.

Maricopa Police Department spokesman Ricky Alvarado said the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the 43000 block of West Arizona Avenue.

The woman told police she walking west on Arizona Avenue when a four-door sedan pulled up near her, Alvarado said. A backseat male passenger was trying to talk to the woman, but she ignored him.

The woman told police the car came closer to her and the passenger pulled out a handgun. The man made a statement to the woman and the car drove off.

Alvarado did not know what was said.

The woman later told her boyfriend and the incident was reported to police, he said. Police canvassed the area but did not find the vehicle, which was described as having tinted windows and at least two male subjects inside – a driver and the backseat passenger.

Alvarado said similar incidents have not been reported.
