PRL Advisory Committee meets Tuesday morning to discuss Pacana Park and upcoming events

Maricopa’s Parks, Recreation and Libraries (PRL) Advisory Committee will meet Tuesday morning to hear updates on Pacana Park, the 2006 Salsa Festival, a Recreation Town Hall and future PRL programs. The complete agenda follows:

Items on the agenda are open for citizen input. Please fill out a card and present it to the Committee Chair before the meeting begins. The Committee Chair will call upon you for your comments.

3.1 Approval of Minutes. Committee will review and approve minutes from the November 2005 and December 2005 meetings.

3.2 Minutes Recorder. Committee will approve an official minutes recorder to replace Dawn Madden, current minutes recorder.

3.3 Introduction of Maria Billingsley. Committee will officially meet Maria Billingsley new Recreation Coordinator.

3.4 Pacana Park News and Notes: Committee members will be updated on the status of Pacana Park including discussion of received bids, construction time lines and potential changes or additions to plans.

3.5 Maricopa Salsa Festival Presented by inmaricopa.com. Committee will discuss the 2nd Annual Maricopa Salsa Festival Presented by inmaricopa.com.

3.6 Recreation Town Hall. Committee will revisit and possibly take action on a recreation town hall slated for the Spring of 2006 with the intent to solicit community feedback regarding current and future programs sponsored by the City of Maricopa PRL Department.

3.7 PRL Classes. Committee will discuss the history and future of PRL classes with specific discussion to take place regarding future programs and goals of the PRL Department.

3.8 Director’s Report: Committee will hear a brief report on the Maricopa Mutt March, Hypergrowth and Parks, the U.S. Census and the branding of the PRL Department.

3.9 Future Items. The committee will discuss future agenda items for the February 14, 2006 meeting.

4.0 Call to the Public

The procedures to follow if you address the Committee are: The Parks, Recreation and Library Advisory Committee requests that you express your ideas in five minutes or less and refrain from any personal attacks or derogatory statements about any City employee, a fellow citizen, or anyone else, whether in the audience or not. The Committee Chair will limit discussion whenever he/she deems such an action appropriate to the proper conduct of the meeting. At the conclusion of an open call to the public, individual members of the Parks, Recreation and Library Advisory Committee may respond to criticism made by those who have addressed the Parks, Recreation and Library Advisory Committee may ask Staff to review a matter, or may ask that a matter be put on a future agenda. However, members of the Parks, Recreation and Library Advisory Committee shall not discuss or take legal action on any matters during an open call to the public unless the matters are properly noticed for discussion and legal action.
