Public Safety Committee meeting moved to Wednesday evening; ordinances and safety issues on agenda

The City’s Public Safety Advisory Committee will meet on Wednesday rather than on their usual Monday meeting night due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. They will revisit alarm and parking ordinances as well as a recommendation regarding motorized scooters and discuss illegal emigrant traffic and the current police services study. The agenda follows:

3.0 Agenda Items

3.1 Committee Bylaws. The committee shall discuss recommendation to city regarding bylaws of the Public Safety Committee. Discussion.

4.0 Unfinished Business

4.1 Alarm Ordinance. The committee shall discuss progress and implementation of alarm ordinance. Discussion.

4.2 Parking Ordinance. The committee shall discuss the need and/or implementation of a parking ordinance in order to facilitate PCSO enforcement of parking code. Discussion and Recommendation to City Staff.

4.3 Scooters. The committee shall discuss recommendation to city regarding motorized scooters within Maricopa city limits. Discussion and Recommendation to City Staff.

4.4 Emergency Plan The committee shall discuss recommendation to city regarding City of Maricopa emergency/disaster plans. Discussion and Recommendation to City Staff.

4.5 Illegal Emigrant Traffic. The committee shall discuss the issue of illegal emigration into and through the city. Discussion and Recommendation to City Staff.

4.6 Police Services Study. The committee shall discuss the city’s police services study which is currently underway. Discussion.

4.7 Old Issues. The committee shall discuss old issues which have not been resolved by staff or council. Discussion.

5.0 New and Miscellaneous Business

5.1 Drug Free Communities Program. The committee shall discuss and appoint a volunteer to attend meetings of the Drug Free
Communities program which focuses on solutions for drug and alcohol problems as well as counseling for those issues. Discussion
and Appointment.

5.2 Traffic Flow at Honeycutt St & Hwy 347. Committee shall discuss the traffic situation at the intersection of Honeycutt St & Hwy
347 and possible solutions to resolve the situation. Discussion and Actio

5.3 Reports from Agencies. The committee shall hear reports from PCSO, Maricopa Fire Department, Southwest Ambulance, Animal
Control and PC Health Department and discuss resulting issues as they pertain to general public safety in Maricopa. Discussion.

5.4 New Issues. The committee shall discuss new public safety issues of which the city should be aware. Discussion.

6.0 Call to the Public

The procedures to follow if you address the Committee are: Committee requests that you express your ideas in five minutes or less and refrain from any personal attacks or derogatory statements about any City employee, a fellow citizen, or anyone else, whether in the audience or not. The Chair will limit discussion whenever he deems such an action appropriate to the proper conduct of the meeting.
