Public Works repairing cracked sidewalks “all over town”

Maricopa has several areas where sidewalks have become a hazard. The city’s Public Works Department routinely contracts with concrete vendors to provide repairs.

At Tuesday’s city council meeting, council members approved Los Lobos Cuellar Concrete as the concrete vendor.

“Typically, we attempt to assure the repair work is enough to warrant a full truck load of concrete and a full work day for the contractor,” explained Public Works Director Bob Jackson in his report to council.

Public Works Director Bob Jackson explained to council members Tuesday that cracked sidewalks, needing repair, “are spread out all over town.”

Jackson explained the reasons for sidewalk repairs, which include the heat causing sidewalks to raise, cracks caused by landscaping and pool contractors driving over the cement and just “wear and tear.”

Sidewalks needing repair, according to Jackson, “are spread out all over town.” His report listed areas on Kramer Lane in The Villages and on Honeycutt Road. Four locations in Cobblestone Farms require repair, one in Acacia Crossings and several on Michaels Drive in Rancho El Dorado plus one on Reinbold Drive.

If your sidewalk needs repair, contact the city’s Public Works Department at (520) 568-9098, ext. 208.
