Even with only dirt and plans to show prospective homebuyers, Pulte Homes cannot keep up with the demand for its new Maricopa residential development. In a unique method of appeasing buyers and selling lots, Pulte recently conducted a drawing for the right to purchase one of the 688 homes in its Senita by Pulte Homes development, located off Honeycutt Road east of Maricopa Road.

src=Senita started selling homes the end of September and immediately drew interest from hundreds of prospective buyers, according to Susan Paul, general sales manager for the company’s East Division. Ms. Paul, pictured at right announcing the first name drawn, said the drawing, Pulte’s third since opening, was instituted because it was “best way to ensure the fairest process for everyone.” Ms. Paul commenced the November 6 drawing stating “Due to unprecedented demand, we are opening up 22 lots, more than double the 10 originally planned.”

The Pulte lot drawings were held at the development’s on-site sales trailer.

Pulte’s drawing is indicative of the incredible demand for new homes in Maricopa. The City of Maricopa has issued more than 1,000 residential building permits since July according to Michael Williams, the City’s development services director. Maricopa’s population has swelled to an estimated 10,000 and is growing by as much as 1,000 people per month.

The lucky winners who received the pick of the Pulte “litter” were Manoj and Bhavana Patel. They, along with friends Sreenath and Sirisha Juloori, currently live and work in Chandler and are eager to move south to Maricopa. “We have seen the area develop so well and wanted to have a home in this area,” Sreenath Juloori said. “We also thought that 20 to 25 minute commute on highways is not a big deal.”

Homes in Pulte’s Wildflower series , which will have approximately 270 homes, range from 2,520 to 4,074 square feet and are priced from $207,990 to $250,990. Its smaller Cactus series homes are $140,990 to $186,990 and feature 1,057 to 2,368 square feet homes. Approximately 400 Cactus series homes are planned.
