Rained out boys’ basketball game re-scheduled for tonight at home

When it comes to rain, snow and weather in general the first sport many people think of is football.

However, that was not the case last Tuesday when a Maricopa Rams varsity basketball game was canceled because of rain.

“In all my years I had never seen a basketball game canceled because of rain,” said Rams head coach Andy Branchik.

The continual downpour on that dreary Tuesday showed flaws in the Rams’ home gymnasium as water leaked through the roof and onto the court.

“We just couldn’t get the floor dry enough to play,” Branchik said.

However, nearly a week after that downpour, the skies have cleared up, the floors have dried and the two teams will take the court.

The Rams will host the team from Coolidge tonight in their conference home opener.

“This will be a great test for our team,” Branchik said.
