The Maricopa High School boys soccer team made history Wednesday night by finishing the season undefeated after a 7-0 win against Miami.

Leading the way for the Rams (15-0) on offense was Irving Garcia with two goals.

The Rams used the game as an opportunity to rest some players in preparation for the state playoffs, which will begin Feb. 6 and run through Feb. 14.

“The Miami coach was happy to see that we were playing some of our reserves,” said Rams coach Jack Berg.

Berg’s team is currently ranked second in the 1A/2A/3A conference power poll and would have their first playoff game at 7 p.m. Feb. 6.

“Who we will play has still to be determined, but if we can get healthy, we have a shot to go all the way,” Berg said.

The first round of the playoffs will be hosted at Benedict Park, 490 W. Guadalupe Road in Tempe.
