Jacob Cowing proved to be a triple threat for the Rams.

In voting for 5A San Tan’s All-Region football team, a Maricopa High School senior was named First Team in three positions, and six other Rams were named Second Team.

Jacob Cowing was voted on the top team as a receiver/tight end, kickoff returner and defensive utility/flex player. He had 872 receiving yards, scored 15 touchdowns and had 372 yards in kickoff returns.

Named to the second team were sophomore Mister Chavis as running back, senior Tylen Coleman as defensive lineman, senior Bakari Jackson as linebacker, junior Ilijah Johnson as defensive back, senior Trey Keel as offensive lineman and senior Kenny Shelton as defensive lineman.

On the honorable mention list were seniors Isaiah Crawford, Stefon Nelson and Logan Taylor.

MHS was 5-6 overall and reached the 5A playoffs.

Maricopa High School’s volleyball team struggled with a record of 2-20 but six players were named to the honorable mention list in 5A San Tan voting: Ashley Brown, Kenzie Ford, Layla Gardner, Shakira Gillespie, Brooke Smith and Ashley Tuke.
