The Maricopa Rams football team will host Phoenix Carl Hayden Community High School in a soda scrimmage Thursday night.
Originally scheduled to play 3A Florence in the scrimmage, a Florence scheduling conflict led to the Rams turning to the 5A Carl Hayden team as a replacement.
This year the Rams will participate in division 4A, one step above the 3A conference they played in last year, en route to a one-win season.
The scrimmage will serve as a tune-up for the team and also a fundraising opportunity for the team’s booster club.
Admission to the game is a 12-pack of soda, which booster club president Lori Duffy said the club will sell at varsity games throughout the season to raise funds for the football program.
Kickoff for the scrimmage is 6 p.m. at the Maricopa High School football field.
