Thursday evening Rancho El Dorado became the first residential community in Maricopa to elect a homeowners’ association governing board made up entirely of that community’s residents.

Both mail-in and hand-carried ballots were tallied on October 13 in the multi-purpose room at the high school. The required number of votes, 20% or 627 lots, was represented.

Elected to serve the community for a three-year (Class I) term were candidates Francis Brewer, Dave Christensen and Robin Simmons.

Brewer undoubtedly represented the thoughts of all the new board members when he stated, “I would like to thank everyone for their vote. I will work hard to earn their trust, and I am looking forward to working with them to improve our community together! Our success as a board depends greatly on the support and involvement of the community.”

Francis Brewer, elected to a three-year term, thanked residents for their votes.

Two-year term (Class II) representatives will be Jeffrey Kramarczyk and Sandra Baker-Probasco.

Pamela Hilliard and Linda Podojil each won a one-year (Class III) term. Hilliard, however, resigned immediately after the balloting due to a conflict of interest. The new board will decide how she will be replaced.

Prior to the election a financial review in regard to the status of the community indicated some financial problems. The new board will be reviewing and evaluating these issues in the near future.

One of the interim directors will assist in making the transition from builders and developers to the new, all homeowners’ governing board. Gerald Figgins, Amy Jamieson, Roger Kolman, Melinda Medina and Dallas Paulsen have spent the past three months on the interim board. One of them will serve in an ex officio capacity with the seven, newly elected Rancho El Dorado residents.
