Beazer Homes submitted pre-application paperwork to the city this month to build 71 additional homes in Maricopa’s Rancho Mirage Estates.

Phase 2 of the subdivision’s construction would continue with Parcel 22, a 16.2-acre tract east of Rancho Mirage Boulevard. Land-improvement projects, which include grading and subdividing into lots, began in November.

The 71 proposed houses would be single-story and two-story, with three bedrooms from 1,685 to 2,805 square feet.

Preliminary plans show the homes would feature three architectural styles: Spanish territorial with limited ornamentation, craftsman-style that mimics 20th-century bungalows, and a style termed “modern desert prairie” that looks typical of Southwestern suburban homes.

The submitted paperwork is only part of the pre-application process, indicating the construction company to this point has expressed only an interest in building in Maricopa. Information regarding when construction might begin has not been announced.

Beazer Homes is an Atlanta-based company with seven communities in Arizona.
