With the 2020 Census data showing Maricopa as the largest city in Pinal County, we were curious about residents’ thoughts about the pace of population growth through the 2030 Census.

So we asked the following in our informal poll: “The 2020 Census pegged Maricopa’s population at 58,125. What do you think it will be in 2030?”

Maricopans indicated they were bullish on the city’s population growth, with 37% saying the population in 2030 will be between 80,000 and 99,999 people. About 30% predicted a a number between Maricopa’s current population and 79,999. About 19% saw much more rapid growth ahead, with residents numbering between 100,000 and 119,999, and about 11% predicted a walloping 120,000 or more people – more than double the current population – by the end of the decade.
