Reconstruction of flood-damaged Honeycutt Road one topic on city council’s special meeting agenda for Tuesday

Maricopa’s City Council will convene in special session Tuesday to discuss a provision for matching grant funds for a rural economic development program and the creation of a public safety general fund as well as an understanding of the Hidden Valley Roadway Framework Study to address Interstates 8 and 10. A contract to reconstruct Honeycutt Road, as a result of flood damage, will also be discussed. The agenda follows:

5.0 Agenda Items

5.1 Payment of Claims. The City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on payment of claims for the city. Discussion & Action.

5.2 Resolution 06-32. A Resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, supporting application to the Arizona Department of Commerce Rural Economic Development Program and providing grant matching funds from the City’s general fund for the project. Discussion & Action.

5.3 Ordinance 06-11. An Ordinance of the City of Maricopa, Pinal County, Arizona, levying upon the assessed valuation of the property within the City of Maricopa subject to taxation of a certain sum upon each one hundred dollars ($100.00) of valuation sufficient to raise the amount estimated to be required in the annual budget, less the amounts estimated to be received from other sources of revenue and the unencumbered balances from the prior fiscal year, providing a general fund for the purpose of financing the creation and operation of municipal public safety services, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007 and declaring an emergency. Discussion & Action.

5.4 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on a request made by Public Works Director Bob Jackson to approve an MOU identifying the points of mutual understanding to provide funding for the Interstates 8 and 10 – Hidden Valley Roadway Framework Study. Discussion & Action.

5.5 Honeycutt Road Reconstruction. The City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on a contract with South 40 Construction to reconstruct Honeycutt Road at the Santa Cruz Wash and Santa Rosa Wash for an amount not to exceed $25,000, and a budgetary transfer from the contingency fund (account number 100-41940-340) to the Public Works General Fund (account number 100-43100-320). The reconstruction need is the result of damage from flooding. Discussion and Action.
