Maricopa placed among the top 10 safest cities in Arizona in the ninth annual Safest Cities in Arizona report by SafeWise. Maricopa ranked No. 7 among the state’s 91 cities and towns, two spots ahead of its 2021 ranking.
The top 10 are:
- San Luis
- Oro Valley
- Sahuarita
- Gilbert
- Buckeye
- Surprise
- Maricopa
- Prescott Valley
- Lake Havasu City
- Chandler
“We have always considered Maricopa a safe place to live and work. Normally, when cities grow at a rate like ours, crime trends also grow with it.” Mayor Nancy Smith said, We’re not seeing it here, and it’s because our Maricopa Police Department and Fire/Medical Department work incredibly hard to keep our citizens safe, but also our community puts in the effort to work hand in hand with our officers. It’s just another reason why Maricopa is welcoming more people and businesses every day.”
