A Maricopa woman was arrested and charged Wednesday with first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in a Nov. 15 drive-by shooting in the 45000 block of W. Ed Green Lane in Maricopa.

Trinity Rogers of Maricopa was arrested at 21423 N. John Wayne Parkway at 9:30 Wednesday morning. Her brother, 21-year-old Kalib Rogers, was arrested at his apartment on O’Neil Dr. in Casa Grande in connection with the incident on Nov. 17. She is being held without bond at the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office jail.

According to Maricopa Police spokesman Sgt. Hal Koozer, the first-degree murder charge is tied to the conspiracy charge, regardless of whether the victim has passed away.

“It’s a situation where you can’t have one without the other,” Koozer said. “The victim did not die, thus the conspiracy to commit murder charge.”

No word on the condition of the victim, who is a juvenile, was immediately available.

Several details have emerged on how police came to arrest Trinity Wednesday.

During the initial investigation Trinity alleged that one of the victims, with whom she had been in a relationship, had sexually assaulted her. On Nov. 19, the victim’s aunt, Milissa Meeches, was contacted by police after learning that the alleged sexual assault had occurred in her home.

Meeches said Trinity had been at her home Nov. 12, and Meeches had heard an argument between Trinity and one of the victims, after which Trinity left the home without saying anything about the argument or a sexual assault.

Police documents state that Trinity returned to Meeches’ home later that evening with another female and a male looking for the victim. Meeches told police that the day after the shooting, Nov. 16, that Trinity came to her home and told Meeches she was going to go to the police regarding the sexual assault but had nothing to do with the shooting.

On Dec. 3, the detective investigating the case received information from one of the three shooting victims that Kalib Rogers had purchased ammunition at the Arizona Law Dawgs gun shop the day of the shooting. The detective confirmed that Kalib purchased a 9mm handgun and ammunition there the day of the shooting. The caliber and brand of the ammunition purchased that day matched the shell casing found at the scene of the drive-by shooting.

The store employee who sold the gun and ammunition to Kalib told investigators that Kalib was with two adult females, one of whom he referred to as his “bae” and the other as his sister. During the sale, the employee heard Kalib’s sister, later identified as Trinity, tell Kalib she would pay for half the gun.

Upon her arrest, Trinity invoked her right to remain silent, and no police interview has been conducted to this point. Koozer said the statement of the Arizona Law Dawgs employee about Trinity volunteering to pay for half the gun was one of several factors that led to her arrest.

Koozer declined to reveal any of the other reasons for Trinity Rogers’ arrest.

“That is part of the ongoing investigation, so that information will be shared at the conclusion,” Koozer said when asked if it was a factor.
