Road work likely to slow weekend Valley traffic

Maricopans heading up to the Valley this weekend should prepare for delays spread across several major roadways. 

The closest of the closures is on I-10, between Riggs Road and Gila River Bridge. 

Westbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane between Riggs Road and the Gila River Bridge from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights. 

Other restrictions are not so close to home but may affect Maricopans travelling through the Valley this weekend include the I-17, US 60, and a segment of I-10 in the Buckeye area. 

Southbound I-17 between Pinnacle Peak Road and Union Hills Drive, in Deer Valley, will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a pavement improvement project.  

At the same time, the following ramps will be closed: 

  • Loop 101 ramps to southbound I-17. 
  • Southbound I-17 ramps to Loop 101. 
  • Southbound I-17 on-ramps at Jomax and Happy Valley roads. 

Eastbound US 60 between McClintock Drive and Country Club Drive, in the Chandler area, will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a pavement improvement project. 

  • Loop 101 ramps to eastbound US 60 closed.  
  • Eastbound US 60 on-ramps at Mill Avenue and Rural Road also closed. 

Westbound I-10 between two miles east of Watson Road to one mile west of Miller Road, in the Buckeye area, will be narrowed to one lane from 9 p.m. Friday to noon Sunday for a widening project.
