Motorists on Honeycutt Road will have a smoother ride after roadwork this week.

The changes to traffic flow seen by motorists this week are part of a project to improve the transition from the asphalt roadway to the bridge deck of the crossing over Santa Rosa Wash, according to Luis Vila, city communications coordinator.

The current phase of roadwork is expected to wrap up on Wednesday, though additional minor work will follow at a later date to complete the project, Vila said.

A number of different traffic patterns were used to facilitate the work. On Tuesday, both eastbound lanes of Honeycutt were closed and a single line of traffic was directed into the westbound lanes to cross the bridge.

The length of Honeycutt Road – from Plainview Street to White and Parker Road – was resurfaced in May.
