Friday, Santa Rosa Elementary School’s physical education teacher, Marcus Whitley, was recognized by the American Heart Association with an Appreciation Award for his outstanding efforts to promote The AMA’s Jump Rope for Heart.

“Mr. Whitley has been volunteering for eight years and is constantly finding new ways to encourage his students to not only take care of their own hearts but to raise money to help people with special hearts,” said AHA Senior Director – Youth Market Molly Pierce. “His school is the top fundraising school in the Maricopa Unified School District and has been for the past two years, each year raising more than the previous year and setting new records for Santa Rosa Elementary.”
