The Villages at Rancho El Dorado was the site of at least one reported sexual assault Tuesday. Police are investigating but have not released any information yet.

Maricopa police are investigating at least one sexual assault in the bathroom of the clubhouse at The Villages at Rancho El Dorado on Tuesday night, according to a community resident and recent posts on Facebook.

Police were knocking on doors in the Vistas subdivision on Tuesday night asking residents to look at their surveillance camera footage, said the resident, who asked to remain anonymous out of concern for their family.

Their home was among those visited by police, the resident said.

In response to an inquiry from InMaricopa, Maricopa police confirmed an investigation on Thursday. Department spokesman Sgt. Hal Koozer would not provide any further details, including a description of a suspect.

“We received a call of an alleged sexual assault at the Villages Clubhouse,” Koozer said. “We are actively investigating this. We are not ready to release any further information at this time as we want to make sure we have and can give you accurate information.”

The resident said they were concerned the community had not been sufficiently alerted to the alleged attack.

“They have not caught the guy and the police have not released a description of the person they are looking for,” they said.

Two other Villages residents posted on Facebook that police also visited their homes to request surveillance video.

Another Facebook post said the suspect was described to them as a Black male with white or blonde dyed hair, wearing shorts.
