Shop owners in ‘desperate need’ of local patronage

To the good people of Maricopa:

The small business owners are in desperate need of your patronage. I am sure you have noticed and have concerns over the recent number of small business closures. The impact of these closures have far reaching ramifications beyond the obvious inconvenience of not having specific merchandise or services available within Maricopa.

As a local business owner, I have witnessed many children of Maricopa pursue employment only to find merchants unable to offer even part-time positions. These kids deserve local jobs. Working part-time gives our children an opportunity to appreciate the value of their hard earned dollars, allows them to finance their own expenses and steers some from temptations which could otherwise lead to trouble – there is an abundance of data which proves the direct correlation between available jobs and the level of teen-committed crimes.

Maricopans, spending your dollars locally not only creates, but saves jobs. I am sure each of us is saddened when fellow residents lose their jobs. Families are devastated. And they will likely seek employment outside the city limits. Ultimately, they will be faced with whether or not it is affordable to sustain residence in Maricopa. If the under/unemployed are forced to leave, coupled with the current state of the housing market, businesses will continue to fail, and its impact will worsen.

The larger cities thrive because their residents support their local businesses. Maricopa would benefit significantly if its residents would commit to keeping their dollars in this great city. Larger businesses conduct feasibility studies and review metrics that indicate success viability. These companies review population growth and frankly, the income generated by small businesses. More businesses will come, offering more services, conveniences, options and, of course, jobs. But, for that day to be realized, the good people of Maricopa must decide their fate.

Please consider this: Prior to giving your dollars to a business located in a city like Tempe, Chandler, Phoenix or Scottsdale, ask yourself, “Why should I support their city’s business and employees when Maricopa’s businesses and under/unemployed so desperately need my spending at home?” And, please do not underestimate the value of your dollar. If all Maricopans would seek out a new (local) business once a week and spend no more than $5, $10, $20 (the more the better!), city taxation could be reduced, and local businesses would thrive, allowing them to create/secure more jobs and provide donations/sponsorships to local schools and charities.

Maricopans, your decision to keep your dollars local is a real investment in the success of your city and its residents. The number of local jobs and businesses will be directly proportional to your commitment to invest. Please commit and give the local businesses your patronage. Yes, greater selection is available elsewhere. But, the greater good, the greater value and the greater benefit are in keeping your dollars in Maricopa.

Use local info-medium like inmaricopa.com to find out what businesses are available in-town. Whether your needs are dental, hardware, fashion or dining, merchants in Maricopa are standing by ready to serve you.

Finally, business owners need and want to hear from you. If for any reason you are dissatisfied or are unable to find what you need, contact the owner immediately. We recognize the value of loyal customers and want nothing more than to exceed your expectation.

Respectfully,
