By May of 2006 Maricopa will have some new retail shops and businesses. They will be housed in the brand new Shops at Maricopa Fiesta on a site just off John Wayne Parkway, south of Bank of America and Baskin-Robbins. The 18 suites will be built on 24,000 square feet of space and will include three development pads.

Groundbreaking ceremonies were held Tuesday morning. President Scott Cole and Cole Investment Advisers are the developers, and the architectural firm is Robert Kubichek Architects. Wespac Construction will build on the land owned by the Anderson family.

Trent Rustan, Cole’s Senior Vice President, told those present, “I am pleased to announce that we have already leased over 57% of the shop space, and we haven’t even broken ground yet. We have another 22% in negotiations.”

“To our tenants, I say thank you for your trust. You have made an excellent decision, and you will be rewarded,” added Rustan. “We have worked very hard to find tenants that can both serve the needs of the residents of Maricopa and compliment each other.”

DeRito Partners, the leasing company, has signed Maricopa Mortgage, Doug Chang Dental Group, Central Arizona College, S & S Dry Cleaners, Guys & Gals Hair Salon, Poco Loco Pottery, Gifts and Furnishings, Nails of the World Salon, Club Del Sol Tanning and First American Title.

Several businesses are in on-going negotiations to be included in Maricopa’s newest retail site. They include a national Asian food restaurant, an interior furnishings and decorator store, a regional pool supply store, a skin care clinic and spa, a national financial institution and a regional, sit-down Mexican food restaurant.

According to Rustan, the Shops at Maricopa Fiesta are much more than sticks and bricks. “It represents prosperity for its tenants, the needs of Maricopa residents and the growth of this city,” he explained. “We are very proud of our design and our location. We feel that our visibility and access is simply the best in town.”
