As the ballot-counting continues statewide, Democrats made some gains on Republicans. Two of them overtook their opponents, at least for the time being.

U.S. Senate and superintendent of public instruction have been the tightest races since election night. In the former, Democrat Kyrsten Sinema trailed Republican Martha McSally until Thursday afternoon. Sinema currently leads by just over 2,000 votes. In the latter race, Democrat Kathy Hoffman trailed early but has moved past Republican Frank Riggs by almost 12,000 votes.
