Slim Chickens restaurant plans Maricopa opening

Construction on Slim Chickens began last week with a plan to open by fall. 

Lucas Barnett, an operating partner of Barnett Management Company’s AZ Slims Restaurants group, said the local chicken shop hiring is expected to begin in late August with a likely opening date in late September or early October. 

The Arkansas-based restaurant features a Southern-style menu of chicken tenders, wings, sandwiches, chicken and waffles, salads and more.  

Barnett said construction of the site near Walmart is the company’s first of 32 Slim Chickens locations it plans to open across Arizona. 

“We are building a 4,000-square-foot building with seating for around 100, as well as a two-lane drive through with large, fixed canopies over both the order station and the pay and pickup window,” Barnett said. “It is going to be quite the building.”
