East Valley Tour, a start-up golf tournament league, has opened its membership to all amateur golfers for play every other Sunday beginning Feb. 28.

The series of tournaments will be held at 15 premiere championship courses located throughout the East Valley, which includes Maricopa-based Southern Dunes. EVT offers $50 memberships and low entrance fees for play. (Discounts are available for police, firefighters and veterans.)

According to tour director Robert Bobber, the tour will be affordable, competitive and fun.

“We wanted to make value a cornerstone of this tour,” Bobber said. Besides tournament play and the social interaction, participants will receive perks such as a $10 gift card from Golfsmith and a $25 casino card from Whirlwind. “Sure, competition is great, but we want everyone to have fun.”

Handicaps are used to determine final scores in each division, making it competitive for golfers of all levels, Bobber said. ”There is something for everyone in this friendly, open event,” he said.  Post-game events are open to all participants and special prizes will be drawn from the pool of non-placers.
