Special Census workers needed

34

The City of Maricopa is seeking over 100 census workers to complete the Special Census, and applications are being accepted now.

Why a mid-decade Census? The number of residents in a City determines the
share of state and federally allocated funds distributed to the municipality. With Maricopa’s recent hypergrowth, waiting until the decade census in 2010 will prevent it from receiving much-needed funds in the next few years.

Determining our current population, which is clearly a far cry above the 4,998 total residents in 2003, is pivotal to securing these funds. The City will have results from this mid-decade census by spring of 2006.

How many people live in the City of Maricopa? The US Census Bureau will
be conducting a special mid-decade census to determine the answer, and Maricopa must recruit over 100 Census workers to get the job done!

Enumerators (workers) are needed to work between 20 and 40 hours per week between January 2nd and February 15th of 2006.
