St. Francis de Sales Catholic Mission, located at 45295 West Honeycutt Avenue, has started a Food Bank Program with St. Mary’s/Westside Alliance for distributing food boxes to Maricopa residents in need.

According to Patti Coutré, the mission’s Public Relations Leader, “Feeding the hungry is central to the Christian tradition, from the Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes to spiritual nourishment in the form of bread and wine.” In that tradition and as a contribution to the local community, St. Francis de Sales Mission is pleased to announce the commencement of its all-new Food Bank Program.

The grand opening of the program will be on Saturday, September 16, at 8:30 a.m. when food boxes provided by St Mary’s/Westside Food Bank will be distributed in a festive atmosphere at the mission. Orders will be taken no later than Sunday, September 10, for the first distribution. The event will be monthly after that. All members of the Maricopa area community are welcome.

Recipients will be asked to pay only $15 for a box of food with a retail value approximately three times that amount. The only other requirement is registration for the program and agreement to some basic ground rules, such as collecting and paying for the food boxes ordered.
