Local teens will have the chance to strut their stuff this Saturday night as a consortium of local churches under the umbrella of Action Alliance Network holds the kickoff event for S.T.R.U.T (Summer Teen Recreational Unified Talent) – UNLEASHED.

The event starts at 7 p.m. at the Maricopa Middle School multi-purpose room and will run until approximately 9:45 p.m. The evening will feature hip hop and rock music, break dancing, free snacks and pop – and lots of prizes.

Local hip hop artist Vocab Malone will perform, and added into the mix will be performances by Chandler area rock band Living Proof, along with acts by local teens. Even the audience stars as they’ll have a chance to come up and show what they’ve got with karaoke, break dancing and more.

“This will be the hottest thing for youth in Maricopa on a Saturday night,” said Mike Clow, lead coordinator for STRUT.

Other series events will take place on July 14 and 28, and there will be a grand finale “Back to School Bash” event taking place Aug. 11.
