Students of the Month recognized at Pima Butte Elementary School

Pima Butte Elementary School held two awards assemblies for students and their parents Thursday morning to recognize the Students of the Month for December and January. Each student received an award certificate as well as a certificate for a free kid’s meal at Ramsey’s American Grill.

Second grade teacher Andrea Leyvas emceed the K-3 assembly. Several of her students presented good citizenship tips, including being nice, picking up trash, returning library books and taking items to lost and found. Students in the audience responded with their own tips on being good citizens.

The second assembly period, for students in grades 4-6, featured a reading by fourth graders Sydnee Akers and Brandon Decker on the importance of each person doing “just a little bit” at home, in the neighborhood, at school and in the community. Their teacher, Larry Peterson, discussed being a “citizen” for all the students, asking them to share their thoughts on the definition of the word.
