After a cold week, residents can expect to see temperatures rise to the mid 60s for the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, the cold front the lingered throughout the week will move out of the area and temperatures should consistently rise from Friday to Sunday. Winds are expected to be relatively calm throughout the weekend as well, but a storm system could arrive as early as Sunday night.

Friday’s forecast calls for sunny skies with a high near 61 degrees. The wind is expected to stay near 5 mph, but occasions gusts could reach 10 mph. The overnight low should drop near 32 degrees.

Residents commuting or planning to be outside for New Year’s Eve celebrations should be cautious of potential freezing conditions.

Saturday is projected to welcome the New Year with a cold morning, but sunny skies should warm the day to a pleasant 67 degrees. The wind is expected to remain calm at 5 mph, but gusts could reach 10 mph throughout the afternoon. The overnight low is expected to drop near 39 degrees.

Sunday should continue the warming trend with sunny skies and a high of 69 degrees projected. The wind is expected to gust at 5 mph, but gusts should increase throughout the evening as a storm front blows in. The overnight low is expected to drop to 42 degrees, and clouds are projected to move into the area overnight.

Sunday night could see scattered showers, but the rain isn’t expected until Monday morning.

Next week is expected to see plenty of rain come into the area. According to the NWS, Monday has a 50 percent chance of rain, and Tuesday and Wednesday have a 40 percent chance of rain.
