Police believe suspect knew shooting victims

Maricopa Police have made an arrest in connection with Monday evening’s shooting in the 45000 block of W. Ed Green Lane in Maricopa.

At around 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday in Casa Grande, Maricopa Police Detectives, along with Arizona Department of Public Safety, Pinal County Sheriff’s Office and Casa Grande Police officers, arrested 21-year-old Kalib Rogers as part of their investigation in the incident. Rogers was booked into the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility and is awaiting arraignment on multiple felony charges.

According to a statement released by the city of Maricopa, preliminary evidence suggests the victims were known to the suspect and it is believed this was not a random event. Maricopa Police Department is working closely with the Pinal County Attorney’s Office to pursue further charges.

The Maricopa Police Department began receiving calls about 8:15 p.m. Monday evening about a subject in a dark colored Nissan sedan who opened fire on three teenage boys who were standing in the front yard of a residence on W. Ed Green Lane. The incident left two of the young males with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police reports one of the victims is still hospitalized and listed in critical but stable condition while the other was treated and released.
