A core objective at Children’s Learning Adventure is to prepare and equip their students to excel in lifelong academic journeys. They implement STEAM-based curriculum daily to immerse students in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics. Their engaging curriculum encourages students to adopt a lasting love and pursuit of learning.

As an educational advocate, Children’s Learning surrounds their students with engaging teachers, stimulating environments, and purposeful curriculum. This helps build the foundation for students’ future academic careers, while preparing them for a lifetime of positive thinking and excitement towards learning.

“Questions, curiosity, and hands-on learning experiences are encouraged and valued. Implementing fun and purposeful STEAM based lessons and activities, creates an engaging environment where students can enjoy the learning process.” – Rick Sodja, CEO

Children’s Learning Adventure knows that a crucial component of learning is the environment in which a child is in. In addition to a primary classroom, Children’s Learning Adventure provides small group instructions in their specialty classrooms each day. Every child’s learning capacity is maximized through multiple learning environments and authentic learning activities.

Children’s Learning Adventure’s specialty classrooms ignite the student’s excitement in different environments. Students apply knowledge that they’ve learned in their homeroom in specialty classrooms. For example, children learning about the weather will reinforce this knowledge in all specialty classrooms. If the students learn about the weather in their homeroom, they may do an experiment about cumulus clouds in Laboratory Lagoon, and then a weather forecast in Picture Paradise. These experiences help the students apply a practical learning tactic, to real life situations.

Children’s Learning Adventure campuses feature several stimulating learning environments, including but not limited to: a science center complete with a planetarium, a multimedia room with a real TV studio utilizing video cameras and more, an expansive library, a technology center fully equipped with iPads and tablets, and an expansive outdoor playground with regulation basketball and tennis courts.

“One of the ways we encourage our students to get involved is by creating community service opportunities for all their centers to participate in together” states CEO Rick Sodja. Children’s Learning Adventure has made it a point to find community service projects for their students to participate in to give them the opportunity to learn about their community and make a difference where it matters. This encourages character building and learning more about the community that surrounds them.

Each month is focused around a different community connection. Projects have included; food drives, writing letters to children’s hospitals, fundraising, and more! This November Children’s Learning Adventure organized a canned food drive where families were encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to be donated to a local food bank. Children collected, sorted, and tracked donated items throughout the month. When children are introduced to these life skills it helps equip them with the skills they need to apply it outside of the classroom.

During the month of December Children’s Learning Adventure has chosen to a character focus on caring and providing the connection to real world opportunities for their children by considering how animals need to be cared for. Children participate in showing the act of caring for others by collecting and donating change for animals in need. The needs of animals that are in shelters and adoption centers will be discussed and explored. Students will create posters to identify the needs of the animals in these centers and to rally support for the drive. Each week students will count and graph the progress of their classrooms. This is just one of the many opportunities provided to their students to help with character building and to gain a better understanding of the importance of volunteering to serve your community.

To ensure families are staying engaged in their child’s education, Children’s Learning Adventure has created various tools to provide families with insight into the classroom. One of them being, weekly field reports. These reports provide activities for parents to complete with their child at home. The activities are specially designed to promote healthy brain development and to continue the learning at home. In addition, teachers write a personal note regarding the learning activities and the child’s individual accomplishments of the day.

Children’s Learning Adventure recognizes the varying developmental stages and nurtures and supports that development. They also used assessments as a tool used to keep parents up to date on their child’s education and development. “We place a high value on the partnerships we form with parents not only as a child care provider but as a resource to parents”, says CEO Rick Sodja. Teachers update developmental milestones monthly to track each student’s individual progress in achieving developmental milestones in cognitive, social, motor, language, and self-help skills.

The implementation of STEAM-based curriculum is a meaningful way to prepare children for everyday life. Children’s Learning Adventure encourages intellectual growth through engaging, hands-on STEAM activities. Teachers at Children’s Learning Adventure encourage children to actively participate and explore in the various learning activities. By using this unique approach to teaching science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics; our students develop the necessary critical thinking and problem-solving skills they need to be successful inside and outside the classroom.

Young children are impressionable, which is why it’s important to set a good example. At Children’s Learning Adventure, Maricopa staff members embody the characteristics they teach their students; cultivating friendships, making healthy lifestyle habits, and taking responsibility for their choices through fun, exciting, and rewarding learning activities and interactions.

CEO Rick Sodja had this to say about the culture across the 40+ centers. “Every individual employee at Children’s Learning Adventure plays a pivotal role. From the corporate headquarters to center level positions across the country, each member plays an important role in the success of our company.”

Children’s Learning Adventure recognizes that their teachers work hard to engage students in interactive and structured learning activities. The teachers at Children’s Learning Adventure are dedicated to the success of every student, preparing each student for their future academic career. They are lifetime learners and always eager to grow with students.

Children’s Learning Adventure knows that one of the most crucial components of work is a work environment. The teachers at Children’s Learning Adventure are given a unique work environment, as each campus features eight to twelve specialty classrooms. The childcare center also utilizes a spiraling teaching approach, as teachers help their students learn to apply knowledge learned in their academic homeroom in specialty classroom activities and lessons. Each specialty classroom environment gives teachers the freedom to implement authentic learning activities, providing meaningful experiences for their students.

To encourage their employees to continuously work hard and grow with their students, Children’s Learning Adventure has created a unique way to motivate their staff members. By posting weekly “Teacher Spotlights” staff members strengths are showcased for families and peers to see. This also helps in creating an environment where their team is given the opportunity to celebrate fellow employees on their successes. Teacher spotlights have been created to highlight teachers that are going above and beyond in their classrooms. This positive reinforcement is a great way for Children’s Learning Adventure to show their employees how big of an impact they have on the company and on their students.

Children’s Learning Adventure in Maricopa encourages families to get involved in their child’s education by providing learning materials and hosting monthly events which include activities and information for the entire family. By implementing the proper tools and materials in their daycare center, they are also encouraging families to take learning initiatives outside the classroom. This creates an opportunity for families to interact and engage in the children’s learning environment and build relationships with teachers, friends, and other families.

In addition to hosting monthly events, Children’s Learning Adventure has also created weekly field reports to provide activities for parents to complete with their child at home. This helps the children become more familiar with learning initiatives beyond their typical classroom setting. CEO Rick Sodja explains “A child’s education should not end once they leave their childcare center, by bringing this outside of the classroom they are able to gain an appreciation for learning at all times, in various settings.” The field reports contain activities specially designed to promote healthy brain development and to continue the learning at home.

Educational growth needs to be encouraged both inside and outside the classroom and Children’s Learning Adventure has discovered that it starts with the parents. To track student engagement and improvement, teachers at Children’s Learning Adventure update developmental milestones monthly to track each student’s progress in achieving milestones in cognitive, social, motor, language, and self-help skills. They use developmental observation checklists to provide parents with, twice a year.

Teachers also take daily notes to provide parents with information regarding their child’s daily care routines such as; meals, diapering, and nap time. In addition, they write personal notes regarding the learning activities and the child’s individual accomplishments of the day. This helps every parent stay up to date and informed on their child’s progress in school.

A child’s school break doesn’t need to be a break from mental stimulation. At Children’s Learning Adventure, students are always gearing up for a new adventure. When school is out, it is ‘in’ to join the fun by attending camps. Each school break and summer camp at Children’s Learning Adventure offers a specialized, uniquely designed curriculum that encompasses STEAM learning and literacy. Each theme is developed to engage students of all levels in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics.

In providing a loving, nurturing environment, Children’s Learning Adventure’s goal is to help Maricopa children become confident, independent learners who develop a strong sense of self-worth, enabling them to make positive life choices. To ensure that every child has the proper tools to grow, STEAM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics) learning curriculum is incorporated into all Children’s Learning Adventure’s school break camps. By infusing multiple activities into their STEAM-based curriculum, Children’s Learning Adventure builds on a child’s natural problem-solving skills building the foundation for critical thinkers.

CEO Rick Sodja explained further, “A high priority of ours is to instill a love for learning in students through fun and interactive activities. These activities allow students to discover and explore areas they are interested in while learning about something new.” Working collaboratively with parents, Children’s Learning Adventure is committed to developing students into lifelong learners.

To help students develop into lifelong learners it is important for them to get ‘plugged in’ and stay engaged in their educational development throughout the whole year, both inside and outside of their school environment. Children’s Learning Adventure has created six programs, from infant care to after school to promote and help students of all ages grow and learn.

Students at Children’s Learning Adventure are presented with specific instruction providing opportunities for rich vocabulary learning, collaboration with peers, and acquisition of scientific knowledge.
