Toddler safe after falling in pool

A toddler survived a near-drowning at a house in The Lakes at Rancho El Dorado Friday morning.

The child apparently fell into a backyard pool on Wade Drive. Initial emergency calls indicated the child was not breathing and was turning blue.

Maricopa Fire/Medical Department and Maricopa Police Department responded to the scene. The child was transported to a hospital.

“We are still looking into it,” MPD spokesman Ricardo Alvarado said. “But so far we believe the child got out through the doggy door and fell into the pool.”
