Drivers should plan for nightly lane restrictions as the Arizona Department of Transportation will close sections of Interstate 10 from Riggs Road to the Gila River bridges.

Pavement improvement will cause traffic to be reduced to one lane each way from 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, to 5 a.m. Thursday.

ADOT advises drivers to slow down and merge safely when traveling through work zones.

Eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane from Riggs Road to Mile Post 170 – south of Goodyear Road.

Westbound I-10 travelers also will merge into one lane from the Gila River Bridge near State Route 587 and Riggs Road, south of Chandler.

The agency said these restrictions are part of the I-10 pavement improvement project, focused on  safety, driving conditions and life of the pavement.
